Once we have learned the basic techniques it’s time to move on to Part Two of our Silk Painting workshop, where Jill explores more of her favorite silk painting techniques in a variety of demonstrations. Jill is an advanced batik artist and her work in batik wax resist on silk is a wonderful addition to this workshop. Looking for something more? Jill moves on to taking color out (discharge) of the silk, using anti-spread on the silk to create a painterly canvas, and thickened silk dyes with stamps, brushes and other effects. Once we have created a body of work with all of the demonstrations, Jill concludes the workshop with steam fixing your silks — both on the stove and using commercially available appliances.

Jill Kennedy has over 25 years experience as a textile artist. She is the author of five silk and fabric painting books and has also produced Kits for beginners in Silk Painting and Batik. Jill has written many articles for Art and Craft journals and runs workshops, day courses and an online course and has made a DVD showing her Silk Painting techniques for Galli Creative.
Jill lives in Marlow, England, where she continues to create silk painted wearables and textiles and enjoys being a granny.
